Where are the RM380 owners?

I bought mine about 6 weeks ago, found this forum and expected to see a bunch of other owners posting about how good this little 380 really is. I love mine and it is my pocket carry gun now replacing another brand which I liked but could hardly rack the slide without a concentrated effort on my part. So after reading some reviews about how easy this RM380 is to load and how it shoots any ammo without any malfunctions, I bought one. I have to say it is the most reliable 380 I own and the easiest to rack the slide on. I feel perfectly safe to carry it in my front pocket, holstered, with 1 in the chamber and also with none in the chamber because I don't worry about negligent discharges or worry about not being able to rack the slide. My carry gun is unloaded if in safe areas and loaded in all other areas. So, If you have a RM380, let's hear some reports from other satisfied owners.

This forum has been rather quiet lately, but it may be that these little RM380's are just boringly reliable. Mine has almost 500 rounds through it with no failures. Have tried many types of ammo including hollow point and steel cased, still no issues.

I read in one of my gun magazines where they tried 20 different brands of ammo, shot 200 rounds of each with zero malfunctions. I think owners would be bragging about this because most pocket 380"s are very ammo sensitive to what ammo they will cycle with reliability. Thanks for the reply, I was beginning to think I was the only happy owner.

I bought my RM380 back in April of this year. It has been totally reliable. I've had a LCP since 2008. It also is totally reliable. The LCP is my DEEP concealment handgun. My RM380 is more accurate and easier to control. However, I have some pockets that the RM380 will not fit in so I keep my LCP around for those times.
The RM380 is damn near perfect for me! |

All these reports on the RM380 are awesome to hear...especially after the R51 debacle.

I can echo what was said above about the reliability of the RM380. It has not had one failure with at least 8 brands and types of ammo. Steel cased, FMJ, and hollow points cycle through this little gun with ease. It has become as some would say, "boringly reliable".

My RM380 has been boringly reliable with all types of factory ammo plus I have run a boatload of my hand loads thru it. Not one failure of any kind. The take down pin has not moved at all as one poster was claiming every one he had handled did.

I'll have to agree with other members, just not any problems with the RM380, I know to date I have over 600 rounds of both fmj and hollow point with absolutely no failer of any kind
I'm very happy with with my pistol and recommend it to anyone I see looking at lcp, bodyguard, tcp or any other small 380. |

I forgot to say takedown pin is no issue like you say, I keep my pin dry and when I want to break down pistol I line up holes turn it on left side and shake, it falls out easily but does not move in use. As a matter of fact I've tried to make it fall out when he started saying it would, I never got it to fall out unless I was trying to clean gun. The reason it won't come out on its own is either the barrel keeps a little pressure on it while using or the slide hole won't ever line up. IMO |

With the reduced prices and the $50 rebate it was time to buy my second RM380. It is by far the best pocket gun I've ever had ! Will have an even $200 in this after the rebate!

A great value purchase. The rebate makes the RM380 cheaper than most of the "cheap" 380's. I think everyone should own 1 or 2 of them. I only have 1 so far and am thinking of getting another. |

Just got mine and can't wait to check it out at the range. Feels good except for the trigger break which is almost right up against the frame.

Picked up mine on July 3rd. So far it has functioned perfectly through 225 rounds. I did put the Galloway trigger and recoil springs in. Very nice firearm. Hopefully it will remain reliable.

I bought my RM380 after days of research on pocket pistols. I am a devout believer in researching decisions to be made. I liked the fact that it had an AL lower because the added righitity would reduce recoil for my 75 year olds hands afflicted with arthritis. I liked that it was locked breach not blowback. I liked everything that reduced recoil including ammo selection: see below ARX. .
I read every online review and watched numerous YouTube videos. I learned that it was (arguably) the best 380 pocket pistol on the market. Nothing I have experienced, seen, or read has changed my mind. I shot 100 round of Remington Ultra Defense through it on first range break in shoot. Not a glitch. Second range trip was 100 rounds of Ruger ARX. (killer ammo better then HP). Not a glitch. Painted the front sight ramp red and rear sight panel white for easier target/sight acquisition. Works great. Checked aim against 380 bore sighting laser -- dead on at 7 yards. Since the sights are not adjustable their alignment with the barrel will never change. that is a +. The long trigger pulls is insignificant to me.. it is easy to touch memorize the touch trigger action after a couple hundred rounds. It shoots fine and accurate. Concealment is a breeze. I use a pocket holster in my back pocket but will add an IWB Kydex soon. The RM380 is an underreconized gun because it does not have the Cacne of the posckt Sigs am Kahrs, etc. it also does not have their faults. |

Good to hear Marine...enjoy it.

I didn't mean to hit the "report" button when I replied to this post, I thought it was the "reply" to this post. I wasn't reading the fine print. carry on!

50 rounds of Armscor FMJ yesterday with no issues (total rounds now at 275). A pleasure to shoot and plenty accurate. Dave |

No problem... I checked the report...checked here...and saw no action was required. It happens... |

Round count up to 325 flawless. I am really happy with this firearm. Dave |

New owner here! My story of aquiring my RM380 is a carbon copy of Richardw's story! I have only put 100 rounds through it at 100% success. I am in love! My journey getting to this pistol was a long one and hopefully it ends here. I went to a gun show this AM and saw a new one for $209. I'm kicking myself for not buying it. A second one would be for play - taking it apart, trying out aftermarket upgrades, inserting a laser cartridge for dry fire play, etc. I figured I could get a used one for under $200 but a new one? Egads, should have gotten it. Oh, well!

I purchased my RM380 the day after the $50 rebate ended, I filled out the paperwork and sent it to Remington. Received my rebate 2 days ago, the rebate period ended on a Sunday, bought mine Monday morning. Thank you Remington. I installed the trigger spring kit, it lightened the trigger but is still heavy enough to be safe, now if I could shorted the pull a little this would be perfect for me. By the way, I am 77 years old and my hands don't perform as well as they used to.

Been following the RM 380 with interest. Ashame parts like the trigger spring kit has to be added on a new gun for better performance. Perhaps Remington will address these issues. Hopefully down the road they will be compliant in my state! The price seems very fair these days for a pistol made with metal!

I have two of the RM380's, one with the upgrades from Galloway and the other total stock. The upgrade do help and are well worth the price but the stock gun is still one of the best small 380 pistols on the market. The slide may be the easiest to rack of any mouse gun I've ever had. The long trigger pull must be for safety and for legal reason as well.

What parts did you upgrade? Galloway has a bunch of different upgrade parts. I'm looking to buy a second one for just that reason. I really love this gun. My early Pico has been retired due to reliability issues and my first RM380 replaced it. I use the Pico for laser dry fire training and I would use one of the RM380 as a laser trainer also. Not sure yet which I'd use for carry and which as a trainer. If I really like the Gallowayed one better, I'll upgrade both! Carpe diem

Replacing the recoil spring, hammer spring, and firing pin spring. That set will improve function.
