...and so far am very happy I did. Those were the choices I had it narrowed down to and teetered back and forth for quite some time. It was hard to put my mitts on a Seecamp and I swore off buying until I could do that. I had handled the RM380 twice and it fits my hands exceptionally well. The Seecamp not so much. After handling it, the size for the pocket still attracted me, but ammo fussiness, availability of recommended ammo (lack of), and potential recoil tipped the scale for me. I have been a revolver guy for 23 years and still will be, but this gun will assume pocket duty for me. I am used to DAO, no safety, marginal sights and because I am right handed but shoot left handed (left eye dominant, started this as a kid) I love the always ambi mag release! 50 rounds 1st range session w/o cleaning or even lubing- no failures of any kind. Ordered a Recluse TS pocket holster and I will be getting the Galloway parts to smooth and lighten the trigger. Since I shoot with my weak hand I think this will be necessary for me although I cleaned and lubed after the first range session and will shoot again before ordering from Galloway. This is my 2nd Remington, my first firearm purchase was a used very little 870LH with 2 barrels in 1984. I will never sell it. Happy to be here! Stay safe, John

Thanks Shooter13 for the welcome. 2 short shooting sessions with 2 different brands of ammo, no failures of any kind. Can't wait for my holster to arrive.

Another welcome to the forum. Really like the reliability of the little gun. Mine has not missed a beat yet. It's going to take a while to get used to that trigger though. I'll keep at it. What do you think of the trigger?

Warbird, as I mentioned in my first post, after my first shooting session I felt the need to get the Galloway parts to improve the trigger. Cleaning and lubing helped the second session, however there is lots of room for improvement. I would like this gun to be as friendly as possible trigger and recoil wise before introducing it to my wife at the range. She has never fired a handgun and only has fired my bolt action .22 single shot maybe 1/2 dozen rounds. The RM as it is now is not ready for her, but has possibilities. S&W did a trigger job on my 649-3 while it was in for repairs and wow what an improvement! I watched a you tube video on the installation of the Galloway parts, looks easy enough. The long part of the trigger I can live with, stacking or increased pull weight at the end of travel causes me to pull off target slightly. CC firearms need to be as good as they can be don't cha think?
Stay safe, and thanks for the welcome, John |

Yeah John I think you made a good choice. From what I hear the Seacamp .380 is painful to shoot. Plus add in the finicky ammo problem. I do like the smallness, but to many trade-offs.

Just an update: this gun has been flawless! 3 different ammos, 150 rounds or so, and no need for a trigger modification after this number or rounds fired it smoothed and lightened itself. My wife racked the slide (easily) and dry fired (easily) this afternoon and expressed an interest in shooting it! This is a first for my wife in 23 years of handgun ownership! It's been in my Recluse TS front pocket holster everyday since I got the holster. Out of the 4 pocket holsters I've had and used, with different guns, the Recluse TS is the BEST period! I can hit with the RM380 too! It's a winner for me!

I own 2 Kahr 9mm pistols and bought this RM380. The Kahr's require 1 200 round break in to become reliable for self defense. What I like about the RM380 is the all metal frame and the fact that it requires "NO BREAKIN" to become reliable as it is 100% right out of the box. Good job Remington! Now I'm waiting for the RM9mm to become available and I will own 2 remmies.
I also own 2 Taurus TCP 380's. I have trouble racking the slides and recoil is much snapier with the Taurus than the RM380. Even the wife can rack the Remington. Love that feature. |
