Has anyone had a model 700 rebarreled as a Remage in order to make it reasonably easy to change barrels? Any idea how much the barrel nut adds to the diameter? My thinking is that the stock (H-S Precision sporter), including the bedding block will have to be inletted a bit in order to fit the larger chamber. The rifle is currently chambered for .25-06 and I want to get a barrel in .270 Win first and .35 whelen later, potentially grabbing a .30-06 barrel eventually as well.

Does anyone have any recommendations for the tools needed (barrel vise, action wrench, headspace gauges)?

Has anyone gotten any bad results from this type of work?

Thanks.

It's an unusual question about something that isn't done all that often but I figure that this is the best place to look for someone who might have done it.

If you haven't checked it out yet - there is lots of info about Remage on YouTube.

Thanks for the info. The process looks about like I expected. The guy doing the work is far more knowledgeable than I am but it looks like I could handle it. I'd have to buy a few tools - barrel vise, action wrench and go/no-go gauges.
