I have been looking for a awhile for a lesser expensive Boltaction in 270 Winchester .. It was between the Savage Axis series , Mossberg Patriot , Marlin , Ruger American & Remington 783 ..
After i found out the Marlin was being dropped and was being replaced with the Remington 783 so I eliminated the Marlin . The Mosseberg was really looking good but ..and so did the Ruger American but i decided on tbe Remington 783 being it was the replacement for the Marlin . I found a good deal at Buds and placed a 783 scope package on layaway .. I have handled one a Bass Pro before ordering and it felt good with a very smooth bolt .. The saesman told me he has sold several and the feedback has been great .. He had no 270's in stock and the 22-250's where selling fast also ..

Im waiting for the 223 compact to be available .. And it will be my next 783 purchase ..
