Anyone out there with a Seven in 243 Win? If so I would like to hear from them concerning overall satisfaction. I like the shorter 20 inch barrel available in synthetic and it certainly sounds like a premium rifle compared to the budget models offered. Would like to know from owners how they like the synthetic stock and if it is sturdy feeling. Really would like to own a lighter rifle with tolerable recoil for use on deer using the 100 grain loads. These guns seem tough to find used but I would consider a used model with wood. thanks in advance for any input.

Don't know if this is a dead topic or not, but I have the M7 in .243. Just sighted it in with a Redfield Revenge 3-9x40 scope. Love the rifle, but mine is the "compact" version with the 18" or 16" barrel and even with the .243 it is LOUD! Guy next to me thought it was a magnum. OTOH, it's a very handy rifle and just-about-perfect! I also have the 7mm-08 with the longer barrel in an M7 with Leupod VX-II 3-9x40 and it IS perfect!

Thanks for reply. Still interested in one. Believe Remington has Model 7s with 20 inch barrels for certain calibers. Yeah I figured it has a substantial muzzle blast with the shorter barrel. Sounds like a nice handy rifle for hunting and great for inclement weather with the synthetic stock. Again am sure some quality over the bargain jobs.

Given my druthers I'd get (or find an old take-off) one with the laminated stock. I looks so much better. Frankly my Model 7 actions are both smooth as glass, and the only rifle that I have that truly comes close is the T-C Venture. The shorter barrel makes it easy to carry in the woods, but the .243 isn't truly a woods-caliber. Maybe in .308? But if I could again I'd get the longer .243 barrel like my M7 7mm-08 has.

I would LOVE to have a 6mm-08 Model 7 Remington Rifle.

That would really make me happy!
An ATI stock set on a 1955 16-ga Wingmaster would make Baby Jesus cry...........

I see 6mm Remington's offered periodically on GB. What's the difference in 6mm-08 and .243 Winchester?
