I've recently purchased a remington 597 and honestly I was expecting to get a few troubles with it and about average accuracy.
However,
I was wrong. Very wrong.. At first I could only get 9 rounds in the mag but as with almost everything, it needs broke in. Now it holds 10 just fine. The gun has functions flawlessly, I did try it without lube and to my surprise it functioned pretty good. So far have not had any issues with the gun itself. Now for my biggest surprise, the accuracy. With cheap fiocchi ammo im pulling off less than 2 moa with the fliers and between .7-1.3 moa discounting the fliers. Okay that could be a fluke, it may just like that ammo right? Well wrong. That's an "average" performer. With federal gold medal match im currently getting not 1 moa but 1/2 moa. That's right 1/2! Don't believe me do you? Well I have a picture. Looks like it's 3 shots but it's 4, I should mention im running stock everything except the scope, I took off the scope it came with and slapped on a centerpoint 4-16x40 , not the best glass but it holds zero and does do its job. I should also mention this is not a heavy barrel version. I am also going to do a full video review later when I put several brands of ammo through it in different weather. Also note that this particular gun will not shoot well when it's clean, I had a lot of problems with accuracy and even reliabillity when I cleaned it. When I put 30 or so rounds through the gun after cleaning the groups tighten up by inches and i stop getting this weird problem where I would fire, the case stays on the bolt and it goes back in the chAmber and it does reset the hammer. That was also before I had 100 rounds through it so it may have just needed broken in a little more.

Here's the pic, 4 shots in 1/4 in or less, i shoot at 50 yards most of the time, but that's still 1/2 moa accuracy.

Do you have a pic of the gun itself to show us?

Nice shooting looks like you have a keeper there.

I have two 597! Absolutely love them! One with a scope and one with iron sights.... I use the one with iron sights when I'm out in my boat

I will also note that once this thing is broken in it is by far the SMOOTHEST actio. In a semi auto i have ever felt. It also violently ejects its brass.
I have sadley traded it for a gsg522 and regret it.

I do like the looks of em a lot. Too bad they dropped the magnum chambering.
