Looking forward to being "educated" about safe shotgun use and maintenance with expert advice from owners. I intend to purchase my first shotgun (home defense)...a Remington Model #25047, 870P LE Marine Magnum 12 gauge as soon as I can determine reputable dealers in Kentucky (or elsewhere) that have it in stock. What are some of the first things I will need to consider and/or do prior to using this firearm at a local indoor range? I've read something online, for example, about "polishing" some parts before loading..not sure about what that means. I will consider all recommendations that you care to share. Anyway, thanks in advance for all advice and I'm excited to be a part of this forum!

Welcome from MI!!!
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.-Ronald Reagan
