Heard that; very unfortunate, as it is a unique and good operating pistol, when it is used with good magazines. Well, Remington is having their fair share of problems lately; hope they don't go the way of the Do-Do Bird.

Well, that sucks.

Better stock up on parts and mags while you can.

Sorry to hear it. I picked one up last Fall and it works fine. Based on this info I just ordered two more magazines (probably won't need them - BUT).

Mine has been flawless. May pick up some spare magazines. Maybe a good time to pick up a spare R-51?

I was wondering if these qualify as good enough to lay one in even knowing that support will be dying. Thoughts?

They are excellent pistols. One is my full time carry, and I have a second stored away. They are not complicated pistols, so should be fairly easy to maintain and service, and magazines are fairly easy to come by, at least at the present time. JMO.

Mine is reliable enough to carry. If the R51 is discontinued, I wonder if it will be replaced by a compact version of the RP9.

Executives ruined the entire R-51 project from the beginning.

I saw they are discontinued, so I just ordered a black one from Buds to go along with my smoke R 51. I like the gun, it's too bad it just received such a verbal beating from people who never even shot or owned one. Never seen them bash Sig 365 when they had some big problems. Too bad I liked the style! Well I have my two guns.
