Hello, new here. I am about to buy a new Remington RP9 pistol for a backup and some steel shooting. I already have 10 RP9 magazines b/c they fit my Rock Island 2011. My question is: How to mount a slide mounted red dot on the RP9? Do any red dot manufacturers have a solution? Is there an aftermarket mounting plate system? Do RP9 slides require a machined cut for the red dot? Who does that type work on RP9s?
Thank you,
9mmShooter

Unfortunately there appear to be very few aftermarket options for the RP9. Probably due to all the bad press it got. I have not seen any red dot option for one. I suspect you'd have to see a gunsmith to custom mount an optic on one.
As a side note, just shot mine at a local steel match. RP9: functioned perfectly. Operator: less than perfect functioning. -- Mark |

Well, that’s a mark in the don’t do it column. On the on hand, I already have a dozen RP9 magazines because they also happen to fit the RIA Tac9 2011.

Trijicon makes a replacement set of sights for the RP9. The dimensions are on the product website. If the dovetail is a standard size, then maybe a red dot base plate adapter can be found. I will look around and see if it exists.

I have not seen any note that the aight groves are cut to a "standard" size. If you find our that they are, please let us know.

I just put a Burris Red Dot Fastfire 2 on my RP9 and so far I love it! The slide is cut for a Novak dovetail.Brownells sells an adapter plate from EGW part no. 49311 that worked great, Had to shim the sight as I run out of adjustment for elevation. Hope this helps out!
