Hi all

As the subject line suggests, I'm from Canada. Southern Ontario to be a little more precise.

Saw this site while looking for info on my Remington rifle and was impressed, so I registered. Still hope to fix an issue with my gun, but wanted to introduce myself first.

I hunt for deer and moose in Ontario, Canada. Thus the name 'bucknbull'. Might give bear a try at some point too. Been a Remington owner for nearly 20 years. I have models 7600 and 760. Both pumps and both are 30.06 calibre.

Welcome buck! Remington fan for over 40 years myself. Love the hear of your hunting experiences and the accuracy of your Remingtons. Have to travel to use my centerfires for deer but my 700 and Model Four do see some use.

Hi mauser

My 7600 hasn't shot anything yet, but I haven't used it for hunting for a few years now. It has a 3 x 9 x 40 mm Bushnell Trophy scope. Accuracy is pretty good at the range at 100 yards. I'm no sharp shooter, so a 2 to 3 inch grouping is fine with me at that distance. This is the rifle I have issues with. The action isn't closing fully, and therefore, the ejection thingy that's supposed to hook on the edge of the cartridge and pull is backwards isn't moving forward enough to catch the cartridge edge. Very frustrating. Hope to get some info here on how to fix this problem. The rifle is great and worked perfectly until I took it to the range one day and shot a box of ammo through it. It was after this that I had issues with the action not moving all the way forward to fully lock in place.

My 760 is just fitted with iron sights, but has taken a few deer at close range. (10 to 40 yards)
I love the quick follow up shots with the pumps. I had it at the range, but only took a few shots at 100 yards to see how close I could get to the bullseye. All over the page, but at least hitting paper. Might put the scope on it from the 7600 to increase the accuracy.

I also have another brand of rifle in 30.06. Bolt action and 3 x 10 x 44 mm scope. This is my main moose rifle right now and because of the problem with my 7600, and has become my rifle for deer most of the time. I use the 760 in tight spots or walking through the bush to push out deer.

Thanks for reply. Sorry to hear of the problem. Wonder if it could be a spring or extractor problem. Does not sound like a tough fix for a gunsmith. My 700 wears a Bushnell Trophy also and for $150 it has clear glass and retains zero so far. Been to Pa. and Maine a few times. Good luck with the fix and good hunting!

I've gotten a lot of deer in my lifetime, but never hunted moose. That's only because there are none this far south.

I had a 7400 in 30-06. It was a decent gun. The more you fired it though, the less accurate it became. Groups would start opening up into a shotgun pattern, rather than a group.
When people ignorant of guns make gun laws, you end up with ignorant gun laws.

Welcome aboard. Refreshing to hear your a Gun Owner & Hunter. Is it true that Gun Regulations are pretty strict in Canada?
