I have a Remington 700 ADL in .22-.250 caliber. I purchased the gun in 1971. How can I learn or determine the barrel rate of twist ? I’ve been loading 52-55 gr bullets in this gun but would like to try some heavier bullets. If I am correct, heavier bullets will require a faster twist.
Hoping someone can provide what the factory twist was for this gun as lroduced back then.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a 1-14 twist back then. Thats what mine was in my 1978 22-250. Although I heard Remington did offer a 1-9 twist also. Mine did shoot the 55 grain quite accurately but all loads were factory and only tried the 55 grain stuff by Remington.
