I have a remington 700 sps tact and the gunsmith is putting on a magazine conversion on it but it will only use ruger scout .308 magazines has anyone else tried this conversion??

I have a 700 with an XLR Industries chassis that's uses the AICS magazines and a Ruger Scout magazine. When I get home I'll try the magazine with some Snap Caps and report back. Also what type/brand conversion is the gunsmith using. -Deuce "If you find yourself in a fair fight your tactics suck." -John Steinbeck

I don't see PT&G on this list. They offer an m5 stealth and flush kit as well as a BDL bolt in kit. Both use accuracy international magazines. The BDL drop in kit is what I have. It uses the older MK1 4267-R magazines. They are a single stack design so they are a bit taller but the kit doesn't require in letting.

Hello, new member here. Searched on this topic and found this the best thread. My question is on mag conversions for a 700 ADL model. Are the available? Are mods needed to make it fit? Are the available for the short action 223 caliber ?

I am fairly new to the site but have learned a TON in a very short time about these wonderful rifles. I have a M700 SPS Tactical .308. Got it because the first rifle I bought for long distance shooting would not accept aftermarket magazines [it was a Savage .270]. Shortly I found out that and acted quickly to trade mine for the one I have now. There are a couple of conversions not listed that work great from what I have heard from many owners who have them. Legacy Sports has a line of DBMs that are polymer and less expensive than most others. PTG is a good one. Kwik Klip has gotten good reviews from at least two people that have them. Of the metal versions, the two that stand out over the rest are Wyatt's and Accuracy International. Magpul makes one [and now they do have 10 rounders] as well and it's wildly popular.
For the ADL, you will need to convert it to a BDL with a hinged floorplate stock before ordering any of the DBM kits. You're stock floorplate can be sold with trigger guard for $75-100. Once you have the DBL conversion done, any of them will fit. Some require inletting, some do not. Legacy is a direct bolt in using your stock screws. I have the Wyatt's with a 10 and a 5 round box. I went with a budget aftermarket stock until I can get the MDT LSS chassis system. Mine is a Blackhawk Axiom stock and the Wyatt's fit with just a little Dremel action on the pistol grip metal only because the Wyatt's trigger guard is bigger and more round than the stock version. Took me about an hour. The mags are hard to load but only due to being new. After loading, leave them loaded in the safe so that the spring will get easier to deal with over time. Mine fit perfectly and click into place with the bolt open only. They feed perfectly with no issues. The release is inside the trigger guard yet is not loose enough to be released by accident. I prefer this over an external release that can be tripped by accident. I have a photo of the rifle in the gallery section, but I will upload one here shortly after I get it on my website. I have only heard of one stock that accepts a 20 round mag, but I have never seen the mag. It's called an Archangel stock. |

I have a 10th anniversary 5R Mil Spec with the H.S.Percission Kevlar stock i bought a H.S.Percission bottom metal and mag !! It goes for 500$ Canadian !!! The stock is 900$in the catalogue !!! I was able to afford the mag and I really like it !! It's tethlon impregnated and centres the round directly in front of the chamber so th bullet has no side force scrapping up the round or brass it's hard to justify but I really like the external mag !!!

I like most of magpul's stuff.
This is certainly no exception. When people ignorant of guns make gun laws, you end up with ignorant gun laws.

Thank you, I really like it. It came with a 5-Rnd Mag; a 10-Rnd is also available for it. This is the 1st beast to fall to the new setup. |

Yum.
Bacon. Good job on that. When people ignorant of guns make gun laws, you end up with ignorant gun laws.
