Howdy fellers!

Was searching Google looking to date my recently acquired 572 and stumbled across a great post on this site that gave me the info I was for.

Here's the little jewel ...

AX is the code.

My first shot at ciphering the code put it at 1929. But it just doesn't appear to be of that vintage. Eventually a code of 1973 was discovered. That is believable.

At a LGS and saw this little guy sitting there with no price tag. I inquired and for less than dinner and a movie for two, I brought it home.

Story is a local lady inherited several guns from an uncle and the LGS owner bought the lot ... one of which was the Field Master. So now I get to pass it on to my grandchildren one day.

The gun is in pretty good shape and along with a Savage Model 24, will be a great gun to teach my grandchildren to shoot safely and properly, just like my dad did for me.

Thanks for all the great info!

That is a great looking rifle!!
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.-Ronald Reagan
