Hey folks
Bought a barrel for my lw-20 gauge and it says it is chambered in 2 3/4" and 3".
My old barrel was a 26" vent rib 2 3/4" only.
My question is will I be able to load the gun with 3" shells even tho my receiver is not a magnum?
Is the only difference between a magnum and a standard receiver the barrel?
Thanks for your time

Mmmm. not quite sure. My 830 has the word "Magnum" stamped on it and it was 3" ready when I bought it. If you have an older 870 it may not have a lengthened ejection port nor the extra bolt travel needed cycle the longer round.
You may be able to test by putting a 3" round into the magazine and then cycle it to see if it feeds properly (do this in a safe outdoor area.) Perhaps try calling Remington, they should be able to tell you based on the serial number on your gun.
