I've read that the Heavy Barrel is 0.825 inches in diameter but can't find what the diameter of the standard barrel is. Anyone know? If I bought a stock for a heavy barrel and put a standard barrel in it would it be too wide or would it just be definetly floating? Would it look funny?

Thanks

The barrel diameter on my 597 22 magnum is .845 which sits in the heavy barrel laminated stock ..

The barrel diameter on my 597 .22 LR. Model 6550 is .740 which sits in the black synthetic stock ..

so if you put the standard barrel on a heavy barrel stock it will not sit flush and would act as if it were free floating.. i don't think that .105 thousands would be that noticable ..
