Hello,
I'm new to this forum because I am trying to research my wife's shotgun. She was told by a "long-lost-uncle" that he had been holding on to her grandfathers shotgun since he died when she was 9yrs old. Now it's been passed down to her. She wants to know when it was made and stuff like that.
I believe it's an older model of 870 Wingmaster w/a 28" Modified barrel and a 2-3/4" chamber, because Remington hasn't made a 2-3/4" only chamber in close to 30 yrs now.

My question is, just when did Remington change from a 2-3/4" only chamber in favor of the 3" chamber?
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Well, I posted this a week ago and it's had 40 views, but no replies.
I guess nobody here knows anything, and even fewer care. so close this thread and shove it.
Thanks for all your help. . . NOT!

Gee, we're sorry we don't know what you don't know.

Attitude like this won't be missed. Good riddance.

They never ....."changed"..... with the exception of the first 5 years from its birth in 1950, sice 1955 both standard and magnums always have been and still are available.

If you will give me the Prefix Letter and Suffix Letter of the serial number that is stamped on the receiver i can tell you a lot about the gun.
If you can find the two letter date code stamped on the left side of the barrel i can tell you what month and year it was made.
We have done so much for so long with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing!
