Just bought a 1911 R1 last Saturday. I spent 12 yrs in the USAF as a Small Arms Specialist. We had to train OSI on the .45 compacts (which were junk by the way), so we were required to maintain & qualify on the .45. I fell in love with the .45 auto the first time I fired it. We carried national match .45's as guard weapons instead of the S&W M15's until the Beretta came into service. I had my FFL for 6 years & dreamed of a Springfield Armory .45 but never had the cash for it. Fast forward a lot of years. I told my wife the other day I want a .45 & she said "ok, I think you should get one". My local gun store had Springfield .45's & a few foreign models, which I am not interested in. I am a big buy American guy, so when I saw that Remington, I was immediately interested. I believe the quality is quite nice for the price & it looks great. It rained yesterday so I didn't get to shoot it yet, so maybe next weekend. Anyway, just wanted to say "hey".

Well let us know what you think after you get back from the range but I can tell you that the R1 is a keeper!
