For those shotshell reloaders out there, I've been doing some little experiments with some of my shells trying to learn more what makes them tick.

I call this trick, the wad mod.

You start out with a regular wad (they typically have 4 petals)

Then you use a pair of scissors and slit the petals down the center to make 8 petals.

This makes the pattern spread out a little more and could be beneficial to those bird hunters and skeet shooters among us.

The pattern with an unmodified wad

And the pattern with the modified wad with more slits

I am going out on a limb here and make a somewhat educated guess that a wad with less slits are going to keep a tighter pattern.

And those with no slits are probably going to act more "slug like".

So, I think that I am going to use some hot melt glue and glue up a few wads on the inside edge so they only have 2 large petals and see if I can increase my effective turkey hunting range.
When people ignorant of guns make gun laws, you end up with ignorant gun laws.

Now I know they're not so ignorant and it's ATRRITION
