Hello. Old vet and avid hunter from Alaska. My first rifle as a young lad back on the farm in PA in 1974 was a Remington 581 and I stupidly traded it, but I still have the Ithaca SaddleGun Model 72 that I bought to replace it. So via the wonders of GunBroker I have a 582 (prefer tube-fed magazines) again, along with a Nylon 66 (always wanted one) and two Model 7's. Fabulous rifles for hiking around here in the muskeg.

Welcome from MI and thank you for your service.
Sent from my Barnett Raptor using alien technology We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.-Ronald Reagan

Where-abouts? I went to high school in Gettysburg where we had a farm outside of town. Went to college at Penn State during the glory years (78-83). Two things I miss about PA: hardwood forests with acorns and squirrels and turkeys, and big PA whitetails. Alaska squirrels are sized about like large mice, and aren't worth hunting except for tails for the fur. Sitka Blacktailed deer are a lot smaller than whitetails due to the quality of the forage.
