Preacher (Clint Eastwood) carries a Remington 1858 New Army with a cartridge conversion as his sidearm in the film, and carries several pre-loaded cyclinders to use like a modern speed loader.

The 1858 'New Army' six-shooter was actually considered far superior compared to Colt and Smith & Wesson. It was a better quality and a more accurate shooter. The problem Remington had, with this model was to little and to late and then bankrupsy.

I love that flick too. But I've preferred (just for looks) the 1851 Navy-style reproductions. I have both a 44-cal and a 36-cal Pietta models. I know the action is considered weaker, but the Remington top-strap (where it gains it's strength) is kinda fugly. Just for fooling around the Pietta's are a blast.
