Just ordered a 597 Magnum along with Tandemkross's 597 trigger kit (http://www.tandemkross.com/Remington-59 ... _p_75.html). Anybody installed one of these trigger kits yet?

As a follow up, I got this rifle sighted in a weekend or so ago, using Armscor 22 WMR ammo and a Simmons 22Mag 3-9x40 rimfire scope. What a combination. Shoots great and has been trouble free.

It's been awhile since your last visit...

Do you have any pictures of your new 597...?

It looks completely non-descript, but that stock is impervious to everything.

I like the looks of it. Rather sleek and has nice lines. Great to have one as I heard Remington has cancelled the 22 magnum version.

Had not heard that. I originally got one of the new Ruger American Rimfire 22 Mag's but just didn't light my fire. Since I had stocked up on 22 WMR, I needed to slide something into the gunsafe to replace that when I sold it. Only natural here....

I was fortunate enough to get a used 597M back in 2008, but did not shoot it often as I kept having FTF/FTE probs. I read that it was a magazine prob. I made sure I had the v3 ones and cleaned them thoroughly, but that did not help. Finally about three years ago, someone suggested I change out the extractor for one made by Volquartsen. Wasn't very expensive, changed it and now it works great. My Remmie was in very good condition when I bought it, so it still shoots great!

Recently found something else that helps with my #597...a "version" of black magazines that work better then the first three. They are made of plastic, but no big deal. Just wish someone made some larger capacity magazines for the Magnum rounds.

I guess it would just be v.4?

Uh, was thinking more like a website, link, manufacturer, model # on package or something that would help a person find them.

Sorry, I don't remember any info on the black plastic magazines, but while searching on Google, I found that they were the original ones before the metal ones.

Recently re-read my own notes on "About My Remington 597M". One of the notes said that the black plastic magazines were the original magazines. I recently came across three, which I purchased and they worked just fine.

More recently I went out and my 597M was FTE even with the new Volquartsen Extractor I installed. My son told me that he noticed the slide was not going all the way back and he said the ammo must be old. The powder is not burning all the way causing the hangups. Since my 597M was mfg. in 2000 and I bought it used in 2008 (in very good condition) I think some new springs are also in order.
