Does any one have information on the 45-70 rolling block the remington sold in the late 1990's

There's lots of info out there, including entire books devoted to the Rolling Block. I have one myself in .43 Spanish, but mine is a vintage model. What info are you looking for? A good place to start is Cornell Publications (http://www.cornellpubs.com/index.php) and get the year-specific Remington catalog that contains your rifle.

In a case with a letter around 1998. I would like to know is the barrel cut for black powder or fir smokeless
Or who provided them with the barrel and twist rate

Just purchased the rifle and based on the patient date of October 1902 on top of tang I assume it to be a #2. There is no marking on the barrel, but it looks like a prior owner may have replaced the barrel or aggressively sanded it. I've not had time to do a chamber cast, but think it is chambered in 7X57 Mauser. Front and rear sights are not original.
With the stock removed, there are numbers stamped on left side of upper tang. These are small number 3,4, and 9 with spaces between each. Then in larger numbers together is 205. The 205 is also stamped in the upper tang recess of the stock.
Any info is appreciated.
