R25 Gen 11 .308

Howdy,
I think the .308 Generation 2 looks pretty interesting.
I can't find it for sale
and the only stuff I can find on line about it are Generation1 editions, advertisements or guys writing into forums to ask about it but all the answers are from folks that don't own one, never seen or shot one but go out of their way to tell the original poster why they should buy the rifle they own or built.

Can anyone that owns a gen2 .308 one give an opinion on recoil, what loads they have tried. I am interested in lighter loads, general first hand information?

Are they available anywhere.?

Thanks
BonesD

Just ordered a Gen 2 in .308 from Webarms based on the reviews todate. I had a G1 in .308 but I had feed issues and traded it in.. It is supposed to be shipping tomorrow. Will post some info once received. Can't believe that I can't really find much info on them.

Didn't think it was either but last week gallery of guns had a couple of 308 rifles that are now gone and Webarms shows it as well.

Just picked up the rifle! Great feel to the gun as well as shouldering. Nice finish which seems to be much nicer than the older model G25. I am disappointed that the owners manual is for the older model. Have sent an email into customer service.

Just got back from the range which I was primarily using to break in the barrel. I used a boresnake for the first 10 shots then on every other shot. I haven't been this cautious before on barrel break in, so we'll see. Gun seemed fairly soft to shoot but none of my other 308 's bother me so not sure I am the best judge on recoil. I have a Nikon Prostaff 7 3-12 mounted.

Fired about 50 rounds. Starting at 25yrds to get on paper. Was just using a front bag so not so concerned with accuracy at this point. 4 groups of 3 were less than an inch, some two shot groups through the same holes. Used Fusion 150 gr. Had one failure to feed. Not sure if that was due to the magazine being extremely hard to feed or not. Moved to Fusion 165 gr at 50yrds. Groups seem to open up a little which was strange but may have been me as well. Also used a 10 rd metal pro mag to fire 4 shot groups with no issues. Next moved to 7 50yrds with Fusion 180 gr. Groups seemed to tighten
back up. About 1". Overall, very happy with first outing. Gun range is only 75yrds, so won't really know how well it performs at longer ranges until I head up to MI in March.

I am jealous. it looks like a great platform I have already purchased a DPMS gen 11 Light hunter. It looks great but have not gotten scope ir mount fir it yet. I had called Remington and was told it was not yet even in the production schedule for 2016. I wonder if this is because they are being built by DPMS?
I can't imagine them having so little knowledge of their product line.
Frustrating

I had been told the same thing about a month ago. I kept checking Davidson gallery and finally got an email that they had them. They only lasted a few days. I am amazed that there is virtually no info on them on the net. I did get to the range again and shot some excellent groups of both 180 gr and 165 gr ammo. Basically a ragged hole at 75yrds.

I have a DPMS GII MOE, I like it. I'm looking forward to the R-25 GII. I haven't seen one yet. They are not available on line that I can find. I'd like to try a .260 REM. This is the first I've heard anyone shooting one.

I finally got an R-25 G2 .308. Only fired 6 rounds to sight it in. It has a picatinny rail underneath the forend and a hole in the buttstock. What kind of sling mounts do I use?
