Hi All,
I've been watching this forum for a while and just registered. After searching for a really nice 1100 a friend knew a guy looking for money to pay his income tax. Been there! I scored a minty 1100 with a 28 inch modified bbl. and gorgeous wood, nary a scratch or mark. I would really appreciate some help with the date. Six digit serial number begins with N and ends in V. The letter marks on the bbl. where it meet the recieve is BR.

Thanks to All in advance

N serial number prefix ran from 1978 to 1985. V suffix designates a 2-3/4" gun. The barrel code translates to January 1978, so it could well be the original barrel.

Nice score Bruce. What did it set you back if I may ask? 1100s are my favorite and a quality made gun back then. Hard to find out my way as people seem to be holdin onto them. Can't say I blame em.

Hi Mauser 9, he took $600 for it. And all the planets must be in alignment, yesterday my aging Uncle gave me his 1100. WOW, from none to two in about a month. Pays to go to Church regular.

That's a really good uncle.

I don't think mine would give me anything but a hard time.

In my book that is a fair price for a minty 1100. Plus I am sure some real QC and finish along with nice piece of walnut went into building it back then. Have see a couple cheaper but in less than fine condition. Currently own a TB trap model with fancy walnut. They sure seem like a higher end gun these days.

It seems that when it rains, it pours. I had the same joy with 870's. Picked up a minty wood-stocked 870 Wingmaster for $200 one day, and less than two weeks later tripped over a mint 870 Synthetic.

Some have all the luck!!! $200 for a Wingmaster from years back? I got to check guys at my club to see if anyone has one in 20 to part with. Usually private sales yield better prices.

In 1974, I picked up a brand new Wingmaster Magnum for $150, out the door. I shot that gun better than any other shotgun I have ever owned or shot, and that's a whole bunch. In a blinding flash of stupidity I sold it. Six 870s later I decided an identical like new 1976 version is as close as I am going to get.
That is one of two personal guns I regret selling out of well over a hundred. The other was a S&W Model 65 with a 4" barrel. Fixed sights. The most accurate centerfire handgun I ever shot.

I have a couple that I regret selling too.

1. A 1965 Auto Ordnance Thompson 45acp
2. A Norinco TT33 7.62x25

Guess many of us are in the "regret" model one time or another. With me it was a S&W 39 and a 19 snubby that are goin for good money these days. The Model 39 was $125 in 1974 and the 19 went for $180 in 1978 new. Oh well at least I held onto the S&W CS-9 I bought in 99. Now for an 1100 in 20 gauge!
