Be advised there are a couple of longstanding errors on the schematic versus the parts numbering. The 11-87 schematic is correct.

I have owned a Remington 1100 12ga mod choke 27" vr barrel with bead sight for several years. the old man I obtained it from swore it was a " red letter" edition. all the engravings and barrel markings are red. can anyone shed some light on my quandary. serial number is L893314V

Someone filled in the rollmarking etc. with red paint just like the gold fill kits of the 60s and 70s.

This link does NOT provide a manual for the 1100. Searching the link provided will eventually get you to obsolete manuals but not for current 1100 Shotgun products..

This link appears to work:

Is there a more recent manual than the link you provided? I have not seen one. Remington doesn't expend a lot of effort on manual updates. The checkering style shown in the 1100 schematic became past tense 37 years ago.

The 1100 is essentially unchanged since 1963. The only difference in the manuals is 15 pages of safety crap. The schematic in a brand new manual matches the one in my 1963 owner's pamphlet - errors and all.
