Thanks for letting me participate. I'm a steel and wood guy, and don't spend a lot of time with plastic guns. I prefer guns from the 30s-60s, as I believe quality started dropping after that. My own Remington tastes are not routine; an 870 AOW, a 591, a 16 ga. Model 11, an FBI Model 81, you get the picture. I have a question concerning the date of manufacture of a 700 ADL in .22-250. I'm familiar with the date coding system; however, I'm stumped on this one. The letters are U A N P. For what it's worth, the s.n. is 199512, so it's a bit older. If I need to post elsewhere, I apologize in advance. Thanks.

Welcome, and we're glad you joined.

Your taste with guns sounds like mine.

Would like to hear more about the 16 ga and the AOW.

I wish that I could help you dating the gun and I hope someone here can, but I'm drawing blanks.

Welcome aboard! Am not sure I own a single plastic gun myself. The old quality rules.

John- the AOW is a 14" PG. Purchased before I left the DPR of Maryland when I saw things getting ragged there. As far as I remember, it's still NIB. As to the Model 11, it's a beautiful 1940 example with both F and IC barrels. One of my favorite bird guns. Only thing missing are U.S. and ordnance markings lol. To make up for that, it's displayed with a box of U.S. property marked 16 ga. shells.

PS- which sub-forum should I post my serial number inquiry in? Thank you.

That's neat that you've taken such good care of the gun. I could no way own a gun that I never shot though. None whatsoever.

The sole exception is the Stevens model 94 twelve gauge that my wife inherited. Her Grandfather was killed shortly before squirrel season was scheduled to start, and her Dad had kept it leaned in the corner of his bedroom until he passed away. It's a pre 1960 model made sometime before they shut down the Chicopee Falls (sp?) plant.

Out of respect, I haven't ever considered shooting it. I'll leave that up to my wife and our sons to do someday. Her family has kept it this long without shooting it, I'm going to stay out of that one.

You're welcome to post the serial number question in the off topic/worksafe forum if you'd like.
