Took a scoped .177 cal, air rifle to a moose hunt a few years ago. Supposed to shoot up to 1400 fps. More than enough power to take a few grouse, but I brought it strictly for target shooting. Have some fun and pass the time back at camp.
Guy that put moose hunt together makes a comment that my air rifle is going to get us in trouble because it looks like an assault rifle. It had a pistol type hand grip behind the trigger and last few inches of the barrel was a larger diameter, making it look like a silencer or muzzle brake. That's it !
I gave him a weird look, then shook my head and walked away. You can't fix stupid !
Here's a true story for you.
Many years ago, a long time friend of mine was having a small bachelor party. Just a couple of us getting together having a few beers just celebrating that he was going to get married and all. Only girls that were there was the bride-to-be and another guys girlfriend. I guess in looking back at it, it wasn't a bachelor party as much as it was mostly us using it as an excuse to drink.
The guys girlfriend was visiting from Chicago. She had a pretty bad personality always wanting to be the center of attention and the biggest bad ass in the room. Anything you talked about seemed unimportant to her, but her stories were always supposed to be more fantastic and everyone was supposed to be in awe of them.
So, after a while, everyone feeling the beers and shots and moonshine, we decide to turn on the porch light on the back porch and shoot some since it was still before 10PM, our basic cut off without having to worry about getting charged with disturbing the peace or anything.
As soon as the guns started coming out from behind the truck seats and out of the trunks and carried across the yard and through the house to the back door, ms. Chicago bad ass wigs out yelling and going on about all of us going to hell, or maybe it was going to jail? I dunno. It was kind of blurry by that point, but at the first sign of the guns, she freaked.
Said she was getting the hell out of there and started walking home (12 miles away) as soon as she heard an sks dump it's 30 round magazine because she thought swat and the national guard was going to storm the trailer because we were shooting those scary looking things out back.
No one offered to drive her home because we had all had too many to drive anyway, so it wasn't until after the wedding I heard someone ask about her and I found out that his girlfriend went back to Chicago the following weekend.
Where it was safe.
