Has any one fitted a timney trigger to a Remington 788. I was wondering where to remove wood so safety will work.

I have not on a 788, but have fitted many Timney's. Didn't the included instructions pinpoint where wood removal would (or might) be needed?

Yea, just install it and slowly lower it into the stock to see where the trigger contacts wood. Use a small knife or blade to scrape away that wood until it fits and functions.

Rock the safety lever back and forth. Where it contacts wood should be more compressed and thus "smoother" or "glossier". I thought most Timney's were virtually identical in shape and size to the OEM they replace.

I have removed a good bit of wood from mind finally I thought I had it till I tight end action screws and safety does not work. I give up !

So it works fine "until:" you compress the action by tightening the action screws? I'd look under the bottom of the trigger, and not on the sides. If it is binding up when compressed, perhaps some wood needs to be relieved under the trigger, not on the sides.
