Newer Steel Shot ammo for older Shotgun Barrels

Was wondering if any of the newest steel shot ammo could be used in some of the older model shotguns like the Wingmaster or 1100. Am not a duck hunter so not required to use it for Upland hunting here but have been wondering if the cup for the shot has improved lately. Last I heard steel shot could be used in more vintage barrels if the shotgun had an Imp. Cyl. choked barrel. Would not want to take a chance on a ringed or bulged barrel myself.

Steel shot should be fine. A bulged barrel is caused by a blockage like a stuck wad, not the hardness of the shot.

I think the major issue with steel shot is wear and damage to screw-in chokes. Make sure the choke is rated for steel. Then point and go-bang.
