Should I be concerned that my new RM380 has now had 2 failures to extract in the first 193 rounds fired through it? I really want to like this gun! So much potential and so accurate.. I was hitting/exploding pop cans from 10 yards away! The failures occurred once with Fiocchi JHP and now once with WWB FMJ.

I would be concerned. I would also be concerned about sending a gun back to Remington during the bankruptcy.

Maybe try replacing the extractor.

The Fiocchi are a bit longer than most (notoriously won't feed in the Kahr .380s, for the most part). And the WWB have been choreographed at wildly varying velocities...so you could have gotten an underpowered round (just spitballing here).

Have you tried any other ammo? Hornady Critical Defense seems to be really forgiving in ammo-picky micros. As does ARX, although that is getting hard to find. Federal Hydra Shot and Speer Gold Dots are also pretty easy to cycle and very consistent (and both are proven performers).

Your RM380 may indeed need tinkering, but if I were you I'd see if I can get a choice in ammo that it really like and just stick with it.

I wouldn’t be too concerned at this point. Just make sure to get all the crud off the extractor when you clean it. If it does need service, you can send it to Remington for warranty work. I think Remington has contracted with a 3rd party gunsmith company near their factory in Alabama for handgun work. Other that have sent their R51s for service have said the turnaround time is about 4 weeks.

So I sent it in... I was debating whether to or not.. Ultimately I decided on sending it because I feel like it would happen again with another box of 50 and that would just be money wasted of trying to break it in. So it's been there a couple of weeks now and still waiting on what they say.

Do you have an outcome you can report to the rest of us, rembyz? How did things turn out?

Ok been busy the past few days since 4th of July, but yes I received my pistol back after they shipped it back to me after the 4th. No issues found.. they function checked and test fired. Maybe I was over zealous sending it in.. because I have had no feeding issues in the two times I have taken it out to the range since getting it back. It was there for a total of 4 weeks for them to just look over it and find nothing wrong though... but maybe the gun needed a break in period.

But in the 102 rounds I have put through it in the two times I took it the range.. my second range trip I had what I believe to be a operator error. It first appeared as a failure to fire, click and no bang.. but after thinking about it, I think in the middle of my firing fast shots I didn't pull the trigger all the way past the break point thereby releasing the trigger forward, hence dropping the hammer back down to rest. I immediately pulled the trigger again and it fired. Anyone else have something similar to this, short stroke the trigger, pull trigger and no bang?
