I bought one for my Wife to replace her Kahr CW9, that was too big and heavy for her 'small purse', she really likes the RM 380 and I enjoy shooting it also. We have many hundreds of reloads through it as well as about 300 factory hollow points that she carries in it. I put the Galloway kit (recoil spring, hammer spring, and firing pin spring) and it made the trigger pull lighter, didn't bother me the way it was as my Kahr CW 45 has a long trigger pull also. I think it is the best 380 out there, stuff like the Beretta are in a different class to compare to the RM 380.

The Beretta Pico and the RM380 look different and are built different but fire function the same. They are at about the same price point for the time being. Weight and concealability are pretty much equal. A built in 3-dot fixed sight set would make the RM380 really shine.

Both guns can benefit from aftermarket upgrades but for some reason only the RM380 has caught the attention of the aftermarketers. A spring kit for the Pico would probably do the same wonders!

One of the big pluses for me of the RM380 over the Pico is the shape of the trigger guard and trigger. The RM380's trigger guard is roomier and the trigger itself longer. This allowed me to get my finger "from indexing to trigger pull" faster without snagging my finger on the guard and having to readjust my grip on the draw compared to the Pico. I have long fingers. So when seconds count....

So far, my RM380 has left my Pico in the dust! :)

I had considered the PICO as I searched for a 380. It had some nice features, but thr RM 380 won out. The PICO had 3 dot sights, but I saw no real advantage to them and disadvantage. A pocket pistol is meant to be used at close distances: face-to-face out to maybe 20 feet. I learned a close quarter aiming style while in the Marines. Draw, put the front sight out about 12 to 15 inches from your eye since the is point where the can focus faster. Put the front sight on the target and nudge up the rear sight to align witouht worrying about perfect alignment. Aim for the area around the base of the sternum and fire three round in quick succession. Highly likely to incapacitate.

I thought the higher sights of the PICO were more likely to catch on something when being rapidly drawn from a pocket. That won't happen with the RM380. If you ever have to use a pocket pistol at very close range you do no have a lot of time to unsnap a hang up. Felt a bit the same about the slide catch. It is good but the RM380 is flatter.

I liked the .2 inch longer barrel of the RM. granted it is not a lot longer but longer is better in terms of ballistics.

I also liked the non polymer lower. I just prefer metal to plastic. The RM slide rails are machined into the lower and they run the entire length of the slide. smaller slide rails embedded into plastic just seemed like one thing to develop a problem over time.

The RM 380 just seemed to have better features than the PICO.

Bought mine online during the summer $75 cash rebates - wound up costing $165 plus $25 FFL.

Remington is now running a $100 cash rebate on the RM380 until November 18th, I believe. Check their website.

Wow $165 is cheap indeed. Never thought I'd see a metal pistol going for that these days. One of the best pocket compacts I have seen.

A price of $190 including FFL is amazingly good. I thought I had a bargain at $220. It cost me $ about $36 to add three I Galloway springs, but it was worth it. Recoil is lighter, and it was light in the beginning, and trigger pull is enormously better. Have put 80 rounds through it since making the changes with no failures of any kind.

Mag release spring and button fell out while cleaning---help needed. Set to send it off to Remington--what a pain for what is probably a simple fix.

Bought mine on Friday (5-4-18). Fired 60 rounds this morning, cleaned it and loaded the mags with my carry ammo. The RM380 replaces a Taurus TCP. Tired of the hard racking and terrible recoil!! What a sweet shooting gun! Did a lot of research and made the right choice. This IS my new EDC gun, all day, every day!!

I've said it once and I'll say it again, the reason their is so little activity on the RM380 forum is, it simply works ! Sort of like a fork or spoon, it is boringly reliable. It is a little thicker than many pocket pistols but it is much more comfortable to shoot. That alone makes it my one and only pocket semi-auto. I will carry a J-frame or LCR at times.

Well, I'll chime in. I own several "pocket" pistols, but the RM380 is not one of them....that is gonna change tomorrow. I will be going to one of the local stores to buy one. The little gun I have had on my radar for a long time, and after tons of research and review videos, I have decided to add another pocket pistol to the ones I already have.

Looks like there are plenty of upgrade parts from Galloway and others, and the VZ grips are looking pretty good as well. I will post up some pictures, after I purchase the pistol.

Cheers! :D

As promised, here is the RM380 I picked up:

Took it home and gave it a good cleaning. Man, the inside of those magazines were super dirty! Now, to get it to the range for a workout.

When I get to finally shoot it, probably next weekend, I will post up some targets and a quick range report. Hope it performs as well as my other pocket autos....from all the reviews and videos I've watched, I think it will.

Cheers! ;)

Nevermind, my daughter showed me how. ;)

The RM380 I bought runs great! I ran two different JHP's through it, and four magazines of ball ammo, all without a hitch. This pistol is accurate, and dependable. I am very please with it, and think that Remy has a winner with this pistol! ;)

Great to hear.

I've probably got 500-600 rounds through mine at this point, with every ilk of FMJ and JHP rounds, including the Underwood Extreme Defender, and I can't get it to malfunction! I think you'll be pleased.

You said yours is "accurate," however, and that's a claim I can't make with mine. My range has a minimum of 7 yards for pistol shooting, and at that range I am very consistently a few inches high. Decent group, lousy placement. I went to a 6 o'clock sight picture and that seemed to help a bit, but it still wasn't great.

Not that I'm too worried about it...this pistol, if god forbid is ever used for real, will probably only need to be accurate at 3-5 yards, tops. So it's plenty accurate for center mass or head shots at those distance. But it certainly doesn't make range work any more rewarding (although this pistol is a dream to shoot).

What do mean by accurate? Do any of you have a picture of a target that you shot with your RM380?

No, but give me a week or so and maybe I can oblige (but it won't be pretty).

I'm gonna run my RM380 against my Pico, G42, and my brand new Kel Tec P3AT. (Yes, I'm obsessed about finding the "perfect" micro pistol).

Like always, I'm rooting for the RM380, but--as reliable as it is--I really can't justify putting it above the others if I can't consistently shoot tight groups with it under combat simulation.

Okay...I messed up. I shot all my .380s today, and in the heat of the moment forgot to take a picture of my RM380's target after I had sent a few magazines downrange.

But the results, as predicted, weren't pretty. At 7 yards, shooting a hurried but not reckless pace, my group (pretty tight) was at least 6" high and a bit to the right. I can't imagine that the pistol is this inherently inaccurate, and I have to assume that I am somehow messing up the sight picture. It is the only pistol I own with this type of sight (although my Kel Tec is similar), and I may need to recalibrate what I need to be seeing when the trigger breaks.

BTW, of all my micro-pistols, both past and present, it is by far the most reliable. Both stock and with the Galloway upgrades, it is still failure-free with every type of ammo I throw at it. And the trigger is actually decent now, and has lightened just enough that double-taps are consistently manageable.

My intellectual side tells me that almost any gun confrontation is going to be within three yards, and done without a sight picture anyway. But my emotional side keeps telling me not to trust a pistol that can't hit where I point it. She's a pretty thing after a few custom touches, so I sure would hate to part with her...

you've cost me some money by posting the picture. going to order a set of grips. this is getting to be expensive....glad to hear your comment about reliability. not worried about "accuracy". to me a "flier" is a hole near the 10 ring.

I can shoot bottles at 7 yards with my P380. I miss more bottles than I hit with the RM380.
