I paid $69.95 as I recall. And the guy threw in a box of ammo.

The barrel is stamped RN86(serial number?)

Pre-NFA 1968 guns didn't required to have serial numbers IIRC, but if you are thinking curio & relic, you'd best search BATFE's list. I highly doubt a '66 model Nylon 66 qualifies as that yet. Besides, the rifle is just as valid in this 10/22-age as any, and just as good.

Agree Scorpion. Seems these Nylons were a bit before their time. Now worth money and look at all the polymer stuff today.

Firearms automatically attain C&R status when they are 50 years old. Any firearm that is at least 50 years old, and in its original configuration, would qualify as a C&R firearm. It is not necessary for such firearms to be listed in ATF's C&R list.

That might be the wording of the law, but I doubt my 1963 Romanian AKM is a C&R firearm.

No doubt. But it could probably be argued in court if one were so inclined.

According to the remington date code your rifle was made in November of 1966 and the 86 should be inspector marks. "R" is November and "N" is 1966.
