So I'm at the skeet range the other day when I reload Remington Model 11 (circa 1922) at the low house station. I put a shell in the chamber, press the carrier latch button, and let the slide come forward. BOOM! The shell goes off. Let's just say I'm glad I was following the cardinal rule (barrel pointed downrange)!
Any idea what would cause this? I inherited this gun about a year ago, but it's been used for years. I've put a few hundred rounds through it the past few months with no issues. I clean and oil it after pretty much every shoot.
Thanks for the help. I'm new at the gunsmithing side of thing but very interested in it.
