Hi guys,
I have recently noticed that when putting a round into the chamber and lock the bolt down it is sticking. It has been really cold here in Maine and I have only noticed it when it really cold.
I was wondering if it is a expansion/contraction thing, a sicky extractor pin??
Any thoughts???!!!
Thanks
Pat

I have experienced similiar in Upstate NY. Can be very cold there as well. What I did: 1. Ensure all manner of moisture is out of breach/chamber. 2. Clean with Remclean or similar cleaner. 3. Replace with light coat of oil (Bolt and Bolt carrier/slide and chamber lug guides). I used Rem-oil but there are others out there just as good (just look for Teflon based or moisture repelling). Because any moisture in cold environments will ruesult in some icing and thicking of some oils, this obviously would cause the proper functioning of your bolt action to feel excessively tight or sticky. I did this first to determine the results before attempting to troubleshoot for malfunctioning parts. It worked fine for me and hopefully will you (assuming it is this and not a malfunctioning extractor as you stated). Good luck.

Cleaned it as well as I could....without a round in it, she's very smooth. Once a round it put into battery and the bolt locked down, it still sticks.
I'm wondering if its an extractor, ejector spring issue... Pat |

All I can add is take it to a gunsmith for a checkup...

Pat, it has gotta be (barring dirt, fouling, damage, etc) but since you cleaned all that is left is damage and extractor. Extractor is the only thing that expands very slightly once base of the round is seated (this or damage could be the friction point)....Agree with Shooter 13, gunsmith to address the issue.
Good luck. |
