How does everyone store there firearms...

With my new 597 I am using the following items:
1) Factory provided bolt cable lock 2) Trigger lock In a standard rifle zipper bag from Wal-Mart. Being a new gun owner... what is the protocol for storing firearms? Remington 597 Auto Loader

Here's a portable safe that I use in my SUV...securing it to the frame of my Jeeps cargo space in the back, should I need to lock up my firearm while out...
