New here. Does anyone know if the 7400 stock will work on the 742? I have a deluxe model 742 the is like to update the look of the gun. I'm plenty handy and don't mind a project but would like to avoid spending unnecessary money if it just won't work.

A quick way to check is to go to Remington parts or Numrich and look at stock options, and see if the part is listed for more than one model, i.e. both 742 and 7400. Usually they list such parts that are compatible.
