I have not had an 870 for approx. 25 to 30 years. I use to be a firearms instructor for the Indiana Department of Corrections. I use to be really proficient with the 870 on a police coarse. Like I said that was 25 to 30 years ago. I have been wanting a 870 for the last few years, always in the back of my mind but could never see one at the LGS or if I did it was not in the shape that I was looking for or money was to short at the time.
Thursday at was at my LGS buying some other guns and looking around at the used rifle rack. Low and behold there was an 870 Police Magnum sitting on the shelf. It looked to be fired very little, even the carrier and firing block were color were not worn off. It was priced right for me ($299 I felt like it was a fair price) so I bought it. Has everything I need on it except the extended magazine tube and a sling, both of witch are now on the way. +3 extended magazine tube. It should be a very respectable HD weapon and varmint dispatcher on my property. Here is what she looks like now, oh I also want to thank Synchronizor on YouTube. His channel and videos on the 870 are top notched.

After looking at the pictures, it looks nearly brand new.

I bought a well used 870 at a garage sale a friend of mine was having last year. I have cleaned it up a lot. Refinished it. And added the +3 tube as well as a few other little things to it.

I Live in a very small town. Very Small. It does have a LGS in it though, he said this shotgun had sit on the shelf for almost six months. I am very happy with it. When I took it completely apart to clean the insides up there was no powder or dirt at all. Very little wear on the block, so if it was ever shot it only had a couple rounds. Not a scratch on it. I will remedy all that though.

Seems like a lot of perfectly good shotguns are passed up because they don't look "Tacta Kool" enough. Kinda of a shame really.

That's the truth Teddy. I've seen that a lot.

I used to feel like that, way back in my younger days. But lately, I've embraced the KISS concept more than anything.

About the only thing that I consider a "must have" these days on my grab-n-go guns is a weapon light for no/low light work.

Just ordered the MAGPUL rear stock. I can not deal with that 14" length of pull. Needs to be closer to 12". I hope it comes in before next Friday. They are expensive little buggers though. Think I will keep the front stock on her, kind of like the corn cob styling. feels good.

I was going to go the opposite way. I ended up just keeping my old 30 year old wood.

You know, after writing that, it doesn't sound right at all. Thankfully though, I didn't have to make a trip to the emergency room for it.

That's a nice looking gun!

Mike, thanks much. I do have the Magpul rear stock coming for it. I will set that up with the 12" length of pull. More pictures when finished.

Yeah, in the short time I've been a member over there and have looked around, he's always been a good guy.

I noticed there are several posts from him here too.

His YouTube videos on the 870 are excellent also. I have watched many of them.
