The 783 was not even on my radar since years back I bought a &%$# 770 that the bolt could unintensionaly be pulled out without any effort, Academys mod wound up exchanging it for a same price gun.
That was the begining and end of my Remington ownership. Till yesterday I was seconds from getting the Ruger American 308 when the guy next to me was eyeballing a 243cal 783 and telling me how its the new improved 770 so to speak more like Remingtons entry level riffle So I asked to check one out and liked it right away the feel of the stock , action bolt felt great very similar to a 700 I held a day before and bout the same as the RAR or Axis wich imo are all very similar in build quality.
But it was the combos price and rebate offer that sealed the deal. So in two or three weeks Ill be done with my layaway my first ever (theres a story behind that) and will be out runing my 783 thru its paces.
Based on acuracy reviews Ive read its a one inch gun at 100yds with good ammo I hope. If your getting diffrent groups let me know also what bullet weight works best for yours. Thanks ahead of time.

Read reviews that gave good results concerning groups. Would like the opportunity to try this model myself. Better looking than the Winchester offering. Heard the 710 and 770 models were not up to par concerning looks and functioning. Startin to warm up to Tupperware myself. Guess it's here to stay with cost of walnut today. Synthetic and fiberglass does make sense especially in inclement weather.

The 783 and the 770 are two very different rifles. I have the utmost confidence and comfort in my 30-06 783. It has a nice balance and yields results well. I did take time to ensure the barrel is floating free and I'm finding very good accuracy. I only shoot between 100 and 300 yards so far.

Got to take out the 783 with a temp Bushnell 3x16x40 this pass Sat to get it boresighted results as follows, At 50 yds using mainly Perfecta brass 147 and Monarch steel 147 both fmj bt 308 ammo. My first couple of 4 s/g were spread around 6-8" then quickly went hand sized and after 4 or so 4 shot groups bingo my first cloverleaf with the 783 then a 3 shot ragged hole with one flyer. Moved over to the 100yd line and rest of my groups were similar for 4 more mag fulls and just like that my scope began to creap forward, I had a 1911 I needed to test fire post repair trip so packed it up for the day. My less than great shooting skills and The few amount of cheap ammo used so far in my 783 has convinced me that not only does Remington advertise the 783 as a moa gun its that and more really a sub moa gun. Plus that after my 40$ rebate Ill have roughly 280$ spent on my 783 is a great deal imo.
