Hello everyone:
While surfing the Internet, a few days ago, I read that "is a missconception to beleive that a sniper rifle is just a scoped rifle". Within this context, I wonder if a scoped Remington 700 Police, can be considered or not as such. In other words, is Remington 700P a police sharpshooter rifle?
I ask this, because I own one that is sub-moa capable, having achieved 0.3 moa groups at 200 meters with current non-match, Sellier and Bellot 147 grains ammo.

Greetings.

If your inquiry is asking if the Remington 700P is seeing a lot of duty as a dedicated police sniper rifle in the United States...I don't have that statistic.

Hello shooter:

I mean, if it has been used by any police agencies as a "sniper" or better said "sharp shooter" rifle.
Greetings.

By itself, it has the basics to be a sniper rifle if the shooter has the knowledge and time and money to bring it to that level.
An ATI stock set on a 1955 16-ga Wingmaster would make Baby Jesus cry...........

A couple of years ago I was in a NRA / LEO "Long Range Rifle" course, of 24 officers in the class I guess that 60% or more had 700's, the rest had AR's, Savage, and a few custom rifles.

The range was only 200 yards, but for urban shooting that's quite a distance. I for one would not like to be in any of their crosshairs.

The 700P (and its variants) have come to be the standard for police agencies. Remington has been introducing new models also, including the LTR and others. The LTR was designed as a lighter weight, compact tactical rifle for urban situations.

The 'P' in 700P stands for parkerized finish. The 1 I have is very accurate. I have a 6x24x50 Sightron SIII scope on mine.
