Well back to real Remingtons, my 1100 LW stock came in today and it's a perfect fit for the LT20. It was stamped 28 on the receiver end and I had a few minutes of panic, but went ahead and tried it.

Strange thing, Numrich shipped the stock and forend , same order, different packages, one via USPS and the stock via Fed Ex. USPS beat Fed Ex by a day.

The folks at Numrich definetly did not know what they were saying when they stated that the LW stock would not fit a LT.

Maybe they are getting like Remington. The info you get on the phone is HIGHLY dependent on just who you talk to.

Yes Virginian I thought that myself. I suspect that a lot of those phone operaters are not gun folks and honestly simply cannot know everything. I certainely cannot remember and know everything about my chosen profession, Pharmacy, and I have been practicing for 48 years now. There is simply too much out there for any one person to know everything.

Back to the Lt, it seems to be a work in progress. I checked and it was impossible to load, the magazine follower was completely stuck. I managed to tap it loose with a small tack hammer them applied some silicone lube and worked it back and forth a bit to loosen it up then with the spring retainer removed managed to push it out using a combination of 20 ga and .410 ga snap cap shells. The plasiic was coatet with what seems to be congealed lube and metal corrosion products, totally nasty. I cleaned it with soap and water using 400w/d sandpaper and cleaned the magazine tube with steel wool, lubed and reinstalled and it seems ok. As soft as the plastic surface felt I do not trust it so ordered an aluminum replacement from Brownells plus one for my 12 ga .

It was really too shiny for my taste so I spent a couple of hours with some 00 then 0000 steel wool and toned down the high gloss to a definite semi gloss finish. I though about completely stripping I, but the press checkering is a little shallow where the receiver meets the stock and the fleur de lis is a little on the faint side, so I though it best to leave as is.

I finally found some stainless steel magazine followers at Brownells and order a couple, one for my older 12 Ga and one for this little 20 and got them installed. Next when weather cools down a bit, will pick up some clay birds and go try it out.

Take care. One of the reasons Remington switched from steel followers to plastic was because the steel followers were battering the retaining edge at the receiver. My '63 1100 with over 100,000 rounds got to where the protruding face on the follower was hitting the carrier with an empty magazine. I switched to an aluminum one from Brownell's with no protruding face.

Thanks I will keep that in mind, and watch. Honestly it is unlikely that the gun will have more than a couple of hundred rounds in a year put through it. The reason I went with SS vs aluminum was that I did not care for colors on aluminum.
