I saw a older 700 bdl heavy barrel, in 6mm rem. From what I can see, the throat isnt in bad shape. Was wondering if anyone had one, and how did it shoot? Many thanks for any remarks

I only know what I have read in articles...never even shot a rifle in 6mm Remington, but from what I have read the 6mm Rem. is an accurate round. I know what you mean about throat erosion though. One of the articles I read was written by Boddington, and I pay attention to his work, was talking about the 6mm wearing out the barrel, at the throat. I wish I had "hands on" experience to share here, but I don't.

Thanks guys, I like the more oddball rounds. Everyone goes for the 243, I was thinking about this as a coyote project rifle. Its marked , 6mm rem, so it has the 1 in 9 twist barrel. I have some parts like a tacops bolt handle, and a 20 moa base, that would go into the project. Something to tinker with, but first I would want to know that it shoots.

If isn't going to be as good as, say, a .260 Remington for long range stuff. But that 6mm rifle can most likely do some pretty good shooting and when the barrel gets shot out you can choose from a wide array of popular cartridges for which to re-barrel it.
Have you checked into ammunition availability? Might be kinda a problem.

Nitesite, I was thinking the exact thing, after the barrel is done, I still have a short action rem 700 receiver. Ammo, not a issue, I have 200 cases, and I located a set of dies( I dont get rid of anything). I have rifles that have never had a factory round through them

Well fellas, thought I would give a update, something kept me from throwing down the cash on the 6mm. I went in today to look it over again, and noticed down the rack a short action bdl. So I thought I would check it out, turns out its a standard weight 22250 with a older redfield scope. 500 out the door, and I looked through the lockers in the "cesspool", as the boss calls it. I have a ton of reloading components for, and a set of dies. So im gonna tear it apart tomorrow
