Hey guys, I posted earlier about my 870 taking off the buttstock and forearm.
My question now is " Is the forearm attached to the slide bars?"
I took the nut off and the forearm didnt slide off, now Im thinking the assembly is all attached to the slide bars too. Im I right?

Not sure...all my Remingtons are rifles...and all my shotguns are Mossbergs.

I'm sure someone here will chime in with the correct answer...stand by !

I have an older 870 so I'm not sure if it has changed but on mine the slide bars are attached to the the action tube that fits inside the forend (similar to the older non-pinned Mossberg style)

I have an 870 express magnum I bought around 20 years ago.

I haven't seen them all, but the fore end wood or plastic usually slides over the metal fore end tube assembly, and then the spanner nut holds it together. With the wood versions, often some finish got in there and they can be effectively glued together. Can often break them loose by GENTLY trying to rotate the wood on the tube applying force to the turning side of the gap and going both ways. The plastic ones are often just stuck. Some of the Mossbergs have the fore end tube molded in one piece with the action tube and bars, but I haven't seen any 870s like that.
What could have happened... did.
