I just bought my first Remington 870. I'm very familiar with how to operate it as I carried one and qualified every year for 28 years in my Law Enforcement career. But, I'm perplexed when I looked up the serial number. The first two characters are "RS" meaning it was manufactured Nov 1998? I'm not very learned about these things. I can shoot'em; however, how can I buy a New Shotgun" that's 16 years old?

Kinda doubt your "new" 870 is that old...where did you look up the serial number...?
