I have an older (1996) 11-87 that I bought used 3 years ago. She has ran like a sewing machine up until this month. I have been having misfire issues. I pull the trigger and the hammer goes "click" and the gun does not go "boom"... The first time it happened I thought it was the ammo, so I cycled the action and was able to fire the next round. When I checked the unfired round. There was no indentation on the primer, and the shell looked new.
I first thought maybe it was the firing pin, or firing pin spring, but both look to be in good shape.

I'm wondering if anyone else out there has had a similar situation with their 11-87 going "click" instead of "boom", and could offer me some advice on how to fix this.

Thanks

**** Update****
Replaced the firing pin.... I took it out before and checked it, and it looked fine, not bent or broken. Went on to trouble shoot other parts. Replaced a bunch of other things, but still had the same misfire issue. Wasn't constant, but was right at the most in-opertune times. (Huge flock of Brant right over me. CLICK...CLICK...CLICK...) So after going through everything else I ordered a new firing pin. Pulled out the old one and took a look at the old next to the new. The head of the old one was just a bit flattened. Put the new pin in and she runs like a sewing machine now!

If you are having misfires (click not boom) and you know your gun is together right. You may want to order another firing pin. With mine the only way to see the difference was to hold the 2 side by side and stare hard at the ends. It wasn't mushroomed out, just blunted enough to cause random light hits.

I love this old war horse, and I'm glad she us up and running again!

Installed a Timney trigger fix into my 11-87 using the middle spring and it world fine. Got greedy and took it apart again and swapped to the lightest spring, the trigger worked great, but the bolt release button barely needed to be touched for the bolt to release. Not liking this, I took it apart and couldn't find anything that looked wrong, put it back together using the middle spring that worked before and now the bolt release releases, but the bolt sticks open. I must have put something together incorrectly, but I don't know what. Help.
