I have a single-shot 514 that my Father bought in the late 50's - early 60's. It's the gun I learned to shoot with & it was well loved by him & eight children. I don't think Mom ever shot it & at 90 years old she's probably terribly interested in doing so now.
I can't find a serial number on it. I took the action & stock apart and went over them with a bright flashlight & my 'up-close' glasses. The only number I found (ED26) was stamped on the barrel right next to the receiver. Any ideas where the serial number should be? I doubt if it's worth much money but I may refinish it just to stay busy.
Thanks in advance.

PDX1953, I do not believe all rifles needed a serial number, prior to the 1968 gun control act. I did a search, and found that there were a number of 514's (and other rifles) that do not have a serial number on them.

Thanks for confirming what I'd suspected and I'm guessing that he bought it at Montgomery Wards. We put a lot of those one cent rounds through it.
