Adequate...
Who and what is covered by this warranty and for how long Remington warrants to you, the original purchaser of a new firearm, that for two years from the date of purchase in the United States or Canada, your Remington firearm will be free from defects in material and workmanship. What Remington will do if you discover a defect: If you make a claim within the warranty period following the instructions given in this warranty, we will, at our option, repair the defect(s), or replace the firearm at no cost to you. If we send you a new firearm, we will keep the defective one. What must you do to make a claim under this warranty First, when you purchase your firearm, you must complete and mail the warranty registration card to us. Then, if you discover a defect, you must notify us or an authorized Remington warranty repair center before the end of the two-year period. Thanks Shooter.
Remington never sent a warranty card with my gun. They did however pick up the cost of shipping to return my R51 back to them. I'm sure glad I picked up the Gander Mountain Protection Plan for $29.99. The plan pays the cost of shipping back to Remington as many times as needed within the three years. Kahr firearms changed their warranty from lifetime to 5 years just after I purchased my PM9 years ago. My warranty card has Lifetime on it. I'll say what many are probably thinking, 2 years on a firearm warranty sure seems pretty thin. I just sent in my PT145 to Taurus for a light strike issue. I purchased it used 5 years ago and it was covered under their Lifetime Warranty no questions asked. It cost me to send it back and that's all. Times are a changing. Some other gun manufactures warranty information.
Glock LIMITED ONE-YEAR OPERATIONAL WARRANTY Subject to terms, conditions and limitations outlined below, GLOCK, Inc. guarantees its pistols against defects in materials and workmanship that adversely affect their operation for a period of one (1) year from the date of their original purchase by the initial consumer. This warranty is valid only for pistols purchased and used in the United States of America, its territories and possessions and Puerto Rico. This warranty only becomes effective if activated by the original consumer purchaser within 30 days of the purchase date, by completing and returning the warranty card included with your GLOCK pistol. GLOCK, Inc. reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to accept proof of purchase in lieu of a completed warranty card. To make a claim under this warranty, contact GLOCK, Inc. at: 6000 Highlands Parkway, Smyrna, GA 30082, http://us.glock.com/customer-service/customer-support, or (770) 432-1202 for instructions on how to return your pistol. Do not return your GLOCK pistol for service without prior authorization. LIMITATIONS OF WARRANTY The warranty will be void if any of the following occur: The instructions in the Instructions for Use manual are not followed; Your GLOCK pistol or any of its parts are altered or modified from their original sate; Damage is caused by misuse, abuse or improper maintenance; Your GLOCK pistol is disassembled beyond the instruction in Chapter 9 of the Instructions for Use manual; or Reloaded, remanufactured, or handloaded ammunition, or ammunition of a different caliber than your GLOCK pistol is used. There are no warranties which extend beyond the description on the face hereof. The sole and exclusive remedy pursuant to this warranty is the repair or replacement of your GLOCK pistol, at the sole discretion of GLOCK, Inc. The implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose are expressly disclaimed. All disclaimers and limitations of liability shall still apply even if the limited remedy of repair and replacement fails of its essential purpose. In states where permitted, GLOCK, Inc. assumes no liability for incidental or consequential damage or for incidental expenses. Any action against GLOCK, Inc. based on an alleged breach of this warranty must be brought within one (1) year of the claimed breach. GLOCK, Inc.’s liability for breach of warranty shall be limited to repair or replacement of your GLOCK pistol, at the sole discretion of GLOCK, Inc. Keltec Hello from Kel-Tec! We wanted to take a minute to update all of our Kel-Tec customers about what we term "second owner responsibilities" in regards to our lifetime warranty. Since the founding of Kel-Tec we've always had a lifetime warranty that technically applied to original owners only. We have never actually enforced this rule and would accept all Kel-Tec weapons under this lifetime warranty regardless of ownership. As the years pass and more and more Kel-Tec weapons enter circulation, the cost of offering a blanket lifetime warranty increases drastically. To stave off some of these costs, we have officially decided to enforce our lifetime warranty, which applies only to the original owner of the firearm. That said, all Kel-Tec owners may still enjoy great service, however if you are not the original owner we will ask that shipping be paid in addition to a flat $40.00 labor fee. Depending on the severity of the repair we may need to charge for parts as well. This applies only to those who are NOT the original owner of their weapon. As a courtesy we have decided to grandfather those who have already been through the repair system as original owners. So if your weapon has already been in to us prior to this implementation, we will still treat you as the original owner even if you are not. In order to prove original ownership we will need a copy of the bill of sale in the owner's name, or a copy of the form 4473 that was filled out with the firearm when it is sent in. Indication of the date of purchase must be included. If you have trouble obtaining these items, please call in to our customer service and we will see what can be done to help you. As yet another courtesy, we may be able to reimburse up to $35.00 of shipping charges IF the difficulty can be duplicated by Kel-Tec (be sure you aren't limp-wristing before sending your weapon in) and the following criteria are met: Shipping refund requests must be provided in writing, along with a copy of the original shipping receipt, and must accompany both the firearm and the bill of sale at the time of service. The firearm must meet Kel-Tec's criteria and be approved by the servicing gunsmith before eligibility will be considered. Additionally, most FFL holders or licensed gunsmiths can ship a firearm back to the manufacturer via a US Mail one rate box for significantly less than a civilian can. We highly suggest going that route for sending weapons in as it is the least cost prohibitive. If you have any questions please call our customer service at 321-631-0068 or 1-800-515-9983. Hi-Point Firearms Whether you are the original purchaser, or the third-hand owner, your Hi-Point firearm will be repaired free of charge. Beretta Warranty Information for Firearms Distributed by Beretta USA Corp. Beretta firearms carry a One-Year Limited Warranty to the original purchaser for defects in materials or workmanship. If the original purchaser registers their firearm with Beretta, they automatically receive an additional two years of warranty coverage for a total of three years. Sako and Tikka rifles carry a Two-Year Limited Warranty to the original purchaser for defects in materials or workmanship. Beretta's warranty information is listed below. Beretta Firearms Warranty Information The Manufacturer warrants that this firearm was manufactured free of defects in material or workmanship; and for a period of one (1) year after date of original purchase, the Manufacturer and/or its local official Distributor/s (as listed here) agree to correct any such defect in this firearm by repair or replacement (at their discretion and, if the firearm is to be replaced, with the same or a comparable quality firearm). The Manufacturer does not warrant the wood (stock and forend), grips or metal finish with respect to finish, matching of pieces, dents, scratches, cut, dings, etc. which are or should be apparent to the purchaser when the product is purchased. It is the customer's responsibility to inspect this particular product prior to purchase to ensure that it is free from defects or damage. This Warranty is effective from the original retail purchase of the firearm only. Beretta assumes no liability for consequential, punitive or other damages (except as set forth herein) related to a warranty claim. A service and/or handling charge may be required for non-warranty repairs. Taurus Firearms The Taurus Unlimited Lifetime Repair Policy™ is just that. The lifetime of the gun...not the buyer. My opinion is that it's not outside of industry standard. I don't ding them for it but I wish it were longer; similar to the lifetime warranty offered by some competitors. Failing that, it would be nice if they'd "reset" the warranty date after it had been to them for warranty repair. That way the work they've done and the new parts they (might) have installed will be warranted as well as any further (yet undiscovered) defects or issues which would otherwise be covered under warranty. In short, it's not a bad warranty, per se, but it's far from the best out there. Peace favor your sword, Kirk http://cbd.atspace.com Martial Arts born in Western Civilization

Good news for me...
I own a Glock30SF in .45acp...4 Kel Tecs: three 9mms and a .32acp... and a Beretta 9000S in 9mm. Never a problem with any one of them... Also like to add...2 Remington rifles...a 700BDL in 7mm Rem Mag and a 7600 in 30.06 ...both serving me for decades without a hitch !! |

I glad to hear your luck with the rifles. My 597 has been flawless once I got the Keepshooting magazines, my 700 has done me well too (luckily the Remington site said my X Mark is good) and my 870 has been the only problem child (other than the R51). I did plan to send my R51 back to have them address my concerns but I'm holding off a few more weeks to see what the outcome of the factory repairs. Although I'm itching to try out my pistol I'll wait for a more concrete answer as to what's causing the primers and casings to bulge rather than risk life or limb. -Deuce "If you find yourself in a fair fight your tactics suck." -John Steinbeck

Thanks Deuce...
And BTW...that's a good plan. Between the R51 warranty work and the M700/M7 recall, I'm sure Remington has it's hands full !! |

I also have some Glocks that have never missed a beat. G17,G19,G27,G36. A Keltec P3AT first gen. that went back with issues when it was new. If there is one company that stands out for customer service and warranty I believe Sturm Ruger is close or at the top of the list.

Had three Rugers at one time...now down to one ( Ruger Bisley Vaquero )
Ruger does stand behind it's product ! |

Smith and Wesson has a Lifetime Service Policy......talked to several guys over at the S&W forum who have had a S&W gun for years and sent it back for a repair......FREE. Never had to call for repair personally but a lot of guys saying their customer service is second to none. That's pretty hard to beat. For what its worth, I do know a few waterfowl buddies who had a 2 yr. warranty on their Remington shotguns, had some issues, sent it in after the 2 yr mark and Remington repaired and returned it in under 2 weeks.

I did not pay attention to what the warranty was but am used to longer since most of mine are Bersas with lifetime service contract and a High Standard Crusader Custom. I love the way the r51 shoots and will wait to see what they do/did when I get mine back from where ever it ends up to be repaired.

Really want the R51 to add to my collection, but between my M700 still sitting in Ilion and the issues that seem to be going on with the R51, I think I will wait for now. I love the way the R51 looks and how it fits my hand, but one gun there for too long is enough.

"REMINGTON WARRANTY"????
LMAO !!! Now there is a contradiction in terms!!! |
|
I don't see how. Remington is honoring the warranty on the R51 and is, in fact, going above and beyond their written warranty and is offering refunds. It's hard to get better than that. Whatever you may wish to claim about the R51, you certainly can't say that Remington isn't honoring the warranty. http://cbd.atspace.com Martial Arts born in Western Civilization
