Has anyone used the remington sure -shot stocks? I am trying to tame the recoil on my 870 slug gun after todays nose bleed at the range. Currently i have the standard walnut stock with a limbsaver pad. The recoil with 2 3/4 hornady sabots is still extream on the bench. Need help fast as the hunt starts in a week.

I installed a 'Sure-Shot' stock on my 870 12 ga. this past Fall for the same reason you're looking at it. It's been my experience that the SS stock definitely helps reduce the felt recoil of the slug and buckshot loads. I need to do some target work with the slugs and rifled choke yet, but at least it's manageable now without being beat up.

However, I personally don't like the feel of the SS grip ergonomics. The angle isn't right for me and will probably be changing to either a SpeedFeed II or III, or something else eventually. YMMV.

Hi new to the site and starting to explore. I saw your list of available stocks and did not see the one I have installed on the list so I figured I would share.

This is the Boyds Sterling Thumbhole stock. I also have the matching fore end installed and they are very nice and well built.

I have the 20 ga. Express, and wondering what some of the better options would be for that? The majority of the stocks that I've seen, at least as far as the tactical looking ones almost all say they're for 12 ga.

Edit: Decided against. Looks sweet, but at $350, I think not. Handled an 870 with the ShurShot stock and fore grip and have ordered a set. $71 including shipping for camo.

EDIT #2: Received! I'm loving this, I shoot this much better now. Haven't a clue why, just seems more natural. Trap anyway, will have to see on birds this spring.





I kept the original thick rubber butt plate, the replacement it came with was plastic with some foamy rubber. Was really lightweight and felt kinda cheap. Reusing the original rubber butt plate makes this shotgun more balanced.

I had that stock,I didn't like it! It was on my turkey gun, and shooting 3.5" Hevi-shot magnum blends with a Hevi-13 choke tube will rock your world. I've bruised my face a few times! Went back to my supercell butt stock

i ordered the bullpup. ist amazing. reduces the overall length drastically. i still use a rifled 20" barrel and it feels great. my 870 doesnt feel front heavy anymore. i can add on all the attachments i want with the rail system. the trigger feels as smooth as can be. it was an easy installation. i believe it was well worth the $350 for a more usable tactical 12g. the only possable mod needed to the bullpup is to shave down the shell deflector a bit because sometimes it bounces the spent casings back into the chamber but you just file the angle down a bit and that problem is solved. the kick is roughly the same as a stock 12g. if you have an old beat up 870 i would highly suggest the bullpup conversion. the only thing you do is take off the stock and the pump action. the rest just clamshells into the bullpup.
