Hey all,
I just received my new versamax from Remington today. I noticed there are a few differences I have noticed between the new one (serial is approx 88,000) and my older model (serial was 18,000).
Both models were the black and grey synthetic, 28'' barrel (not the sportsman).
1) I noticed the magazine tube on the new one is black anodized, while the older one was stainless.
2) The knob and insert of the magazine cap on the new one seems to lock down much easier
3) The new fore-end seems to have less play and seems to fit near the front tighter.
Has anyone else noticed these changes?
I am pretty happy with the gun and will be buying the new deer barrel for it next week.
Cheers.

Yes the new designs are due to good folks testing and using the VM's in early 2011 and improving on the original.
You will also notice that a notch has been added for the firing pin retaining pin O ring to rest in on the bolt and that a new spring design/slot for the trigger pin tube has been added. The gun as currently produced is nearly perfect! I started a topic in January 2011 over in Shotgun World and thru that discussion and working with Remington we now have what I would consider the best Semi Auto Shotgun ever produced. Here is link to that 125 page topic..... http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtop ... 5&t=244957 enjoy! We have done so much for so long with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing!

Thanks for the reply Tujays. The current VM I have certainly does have a nicer fit and finish than the other I had.
Once I get my slug barrel for it, I will try to post up a short review when I can finally get some range time. |

I have just purchased the slug barrel from my dealer. Should be shipped to me in a week or so. Finding the bloody things here (Ontario) is like panning for gold. Hopefully I can get some range time with it.
