NICE!!!! Good job on getting the drop on it! I have been checking the blogs everyday (missed yesterday) to see when they would hit the stores!

It seems that based on the review by the same group, these were sent directly to his FFL from Remington for the purpose of the review.

No worries, at the time you had no way of knowing that nor did I.

They are production pistols though. That is a good sign.

Right after SHOT show I was told the R51 would be on the shelves by early February. Now my shop's distributor is telling them they should have them in hand by the end of the month. Anybody else hear anything solid?

I can't wait to get my hands on one of these. I loved the old R51 styling, but I always wanted it in a 9mm. I already have a Shield, but with the future looking good for concealed carry here in California I definitely want the Remington.

My LGS said they won't see them for months. But he said that without ever calling a distributor...

I have one local dealer who gets some of his guns from Bill Hicks Co. He said he would keep his eye out for one. I have two originals, both made in 1919; one in used very good and one in excellent plus condition. The used very good is my primary concealed carry firearm. I use only FMJ ammo as that was what it was designed for. I use cast bullets for practice. I would like a new version, might trade my lesser condition model 51 toward the new one. Both original handguns have been 100% reliable. I would like to replace the springs in both but so far no luck.
Regards,

Well, it's in & it's out, who knows. I talked to one big dealer who had shot it when a salesman brought it by. He said it was out but would take a while to get. Accademy has them listed for $399, but say to call back in 3 or 4 weeks. My dealer ,who I know & like, called his distributor yesterday & he said they do not have them listed yet.

I have one ordered from him & will wait to get it from him. He is the fairest man I have ever dealt with.

I'm hearing sometime next month. Given that it's Remington a 1 month delay isn't unexpected. Would expect it to come out in mid to late March or April.

I've been told that they expect them late march-april. I'm not holding my breath. Also has anyone clicked on the Remington handguns website at Remington.com ? It says 'Coming in February' well, tomorrows the last day of the month and nothing yet. I'm probably going to give in and get the new springfield xds 4.0 ...... I cant wait anymore! :D

I'm feeling unloved here in the middle of Iowa. On another forum a couple folks said the handled one at a LGS with a Remington rep there. And Academy Sports sightings have been reported.

UGH

I have read several posts by people who have seen the R 51 at Academy in several cities. I also called Remington last week & a nice girl said they would be in dealers by mid March. I don't think they would say that if there wasn't some basis in fact.

I called Academy last Saturday and they had none in stock in stores or warehouses.

Gun Broker today has about 10 listings for the R 51. None are buy it now, but are all on bid. So it is really out.

As much as I am looking forward to the R51 , I refuse to pay what the gougers are asking for them. I have mine on preorder and it was 385 plus shipping , I'll wait.

What "gouging" are you talking about? Interested parties are bidding it up, yes, but the seller isn't asking more than MSRP, he's just letting buyers bid what they're willing to pay. That's not "gouging."
