Hey guys!

This is my first post and have had my r1 for about a month now. I took one trip to the range an only fired thirty rounds cuz a monsoon hit. I noticed this "wear" on the hammer after cleaning. It is like a "peening" mark at the base of the hammer inside the grooved/notched part that does not seem to come in comtact with anything. Anyone else's look like this? Should I send it into Remington?

It's hard to see on your picture but I think I have the same mark at the base of my hammer. It's very small and shallow. Might be just a manufacturing mark. Like you said, it doesn't hit anything.
I'd not worry about it. It's just a mark.
I bought my R1 last summer and it's shot great. No problems at all.
Shoot yours and enjoy it.

I know its hard to see, but I do not believe this to be a manufacturing mark the more I look at it. Its not like a surface scratch or any kind of marring. This mark has some depth to it. I have contacted Remington because either way i want the burrs knocked down near the feed ramp on my frame. When i send it in and get a response I will update.

It's probably a MIM sprue mark.

That's what I was thinking. On mine, it looks like a 1mm wide shallow crater. Like a very shallow moon-like crater. I'd have never seen it if the OP hadn't mentioned it. :)
IF we're talking about the same thing, it's nothing. (No offense, TMoney)

It's cool no offense taken and sorry to bring this to your attention , but sending it off tomorrow and will update when I hear something. If it is just a manufacturing mark has anyone changed out their hammer? Any suggestions?
